thanks. i had all the test i can for now and there no evidence of any cardiac or pulmonary disease. so i assume they are just symtoms.it went way and i was comfortable falling asleep. my partner is understanding but he doesnt know what he can do. thanks

How do you(pl) cope when you are having an attack? I have to sit very calm and take deep breaths. and tell myself that I’m not going to die. I have chest pains right now but I am under some relationship stress. Just looking for input. Maybe some one out there has a better way of handing. As i wait for my supplements to kick in.

ugh…… nobody ever asked that, i don’t think… since i’ve been here. me? i lay down and concentrate on relaxing and i focus on every part of my body, singularly, from my toes up, and knowing, inherently, that i will die. it just won’t be today. ~tanya

How do you(pl) cope when you are having an attack? I have to sit very calm and take deep breaths. and tell myself that I’m not going to die.
I’m not sure what type of attacks you are describing here, are they anxiety attacks due to stress? Well how I handle those situations depends how badly I’m feeling. If it’s anticipatory type of anxiety I try to find ways to relax my body and distract my mind. Meditation can work well for these situations as I’m still in control. But if the panic starts to rise sharply I have often gotten through by calling a friend to think about normal life events and so the focus isn’t on my symptoms and it’s amazing how often i feel better physically once I’ve gotten over the mental anguish. Vanessa

Response:

i also try to think of my life as normal and maybe haveto speak outloud of simple things to keep me grounded and i find it does help. ignoring my attack has helped until i say " hey its gone" then it sneaks back upon me.when i iniatially went to the dr. she said sometimes the attacks only last for a few weeks or months. that was hopefull, i don’t know how some can go thru it for years. it is such i vicious cycle, i cant imagine doing this for that long. i’m still young and i have a family. they have been affected by this too, i feel guilty like i’m robbing them of a normal life. surely somebody is attack free. quickly… my hope is fading. thanks for the input. rox

Response:

i also try to think of my life as normal and maybe haveto speak outloud of simple things to keep me grounded and i find it does help.

i hear ya. i used to do many things to make me feel "normal", as if it was a regular "slice of time"… i’ve gone as far as to make myself throw up to feel… human. i’ve watched my tat shop commercials on VHS tape, even told myself old jokes. that was in the beginning. my panic has been at an all-time high the past few days and i’m now starting to put my finger on things, and one is…. this time of year march, april, may (all coming up) everyone i’ve ever known that died by their own hand did so during this time. i spoke with my Mom about it today, she said "i think it much be allergies". i thought i was gonna DIE laughing. i drink more booze during the month prior to these 3 months and i’ve found myself taking adderal which i’d totally put down a few months back due to a friend’s insistence. i put myself in "high risk" situations during these months, i just went back and looked, yesterday, at my tat shop records for the last 7 years, and it is a trend. i even stopped taking xanax 2 days ago because i wanted my life back and was going to just "fire" my panic attacks. i know you’re not on medication (or i don’t think you are, and if you are, very little, and please talk to Gary or Elliott about meds. they WILL, if you’re capable of saying "i’m ok with this" give you your life. it took me 3 times being hospitalized after cold turkeyin’ my benzo to realize i’m as dependent on xanax as as diabetic is on insulin and the difference is only in the "point of view". i do hope you can get there… THEN figure it out. ya can’t figger out the unfiggeroutable until you’re in a place to do so. and in my book, only medication can give you that space. and then do a taper if you absolutely hat e it, don’t just BAM it. even the most experienced and best of engineers can’t stop their moving train on a dime, it takes time to come to that screeching halt. and i can assure you medication will give you a comfort zone, as it seems you might be in the "panic disorder" arena, as you fear them. ignoring my attack has helped until i say " hey its gone" then it sneaks back upon me.when i iniatially went to the dr. she said sometimes the attacks only last for a few weeks or months. that was hopefull, i don’t know how some can go thru it for years.

8 for me, i think 36 for Philip, Elliott, he ain’t no slouch in that arena, nor is Gary and MINO and several others. and has it slowed me down? nad’ah bit. with meds i can do anything. this month has been an exception, but there don’t have to be exceptions for you. it is such i vicious cycle, i cant imagine doing this for that long. i’m still young and i have a family. they have been affected by this too,

they’re as effected, but differently. my trick? TELL EVERYONE ! "i have good intentions but never count on me" and then give them stuff ta read. i feel guilty like i’m robbing them of a normal life. surely somebody is attack free.

Elliott is, and med free. talk ta him, but take yer shoes off. LOL you’ll be just fine when ya find yer way without guilt and by being forthcoming, i’m thinkin’ quickly… my hope is fading.

ACK ! don’t let that happen… there’s medication out there for that very thing, take advantage of it ! ~t

Response:

my panic has been at an all-time high the past few days and i’m now starting to put my finger on things, and one is…. this time of year march, april, may (all coming up) everyone i’ve ever known that died by their own hand did so during this time. i spoke with my Mom about it today, she said "i think it much be allergies". i thought i was gonna DIE laughing.

ROFL! So you’re a chip off the old block humourwise? I am sorry you had to lose so many people who were close to you. i drink more booze during the month prior to these 3 months and i’ve found myself taking adderal which i’d totally put down a few months back due to a friend’s insistence.

I must admit that I can’t imagine that a stimulant would do you much good. i put myself in "high risk" situations during these months, i just went back and looked, yesterday, at my tat shop records for the last 7 years, and it is a trend.

It shis the first time you realize that? Unless you want to be in high risk situations you might be able to avoid them when you realize you have a tendency to this at this time of the year. i even stopped taking xanax 2 days ago because i wanted my life back and was going to just "fire" my panic attacks.

LOL. I tried that a few times too many moons ago. No way. I said to myself: "And from now on I will have no more PA’s and no more anxiety" and really believed that I could *will* myself to have no anxiety anymore and somewhere deep down I still believe it. surely somebody is attack free. Elliott is, and med free.

Young Master Elliott is on Celexa and Xanax (and CBT). I have no PA’s in the house anymore but can have one when outside my comfort zone/ Xanax (and imipramine) helps a lot. If I have to do something outside my safety zone I take an extra mg of Xanax and usually have no problems. If I were to practice exposure more often and consistently I will be able to skip the extra Xanax and maybe more. But I’m old and lazy and don’t feel like confronting panic again and again. After 37 years I think I did enough and it is this very thought that is a *cognitive distortion* (it’s totally irrational thinking that can be reduced to what Beck calls negative *core beliefs*) that I have to fight which ius more difficult than fighting the actual panic IMO. quickly… my hope is fading. ACK ! don’t let that happen…

When I was in a really deep, dark pit my then pdoc said: "There is always *something* that will help. Having *status panicus* < shuddering at the thought even so many years later around the clock I of course didn’t believe him but a few months later he was proved right. There will be *something* for *rox* as well. Philip

It might be of interest for some to know a little more about Judith Beck, particularly our lady members.

Why so? Because she happens to be a woman herself? Me no understando. Anyway, Judith Beck is Aaron ("Tim") Beck’s daughter. Aaron Beck is one of the fathers of cognitive (behaviour) therapy, the other one being Albert Ellis. With Aaron Beck being elderly (but still working) Judith is now running the Beck Institute in Philadelphia. Like Anna Freud in earlier days she isn’t just her father’s daughter who happened to inherit a therapeutic empire, but a prominent therapist in her own right who has published extensively on CBT building on her father’s legacy and extending it. Her best known book is "Cognitive Therapy. Basics and Beyond" which is for sale at Amazon. It’s not cheap, but it’s very good. Philip

Assuming you’ve had a medical work-up for your chest pain, and nothing organic was found, I think it’s always helpful to remind yourself (out-loud if need be) that they are "JUST SYMPTOMS". Without a medical work-up though, you can’t be sure that they’re just symptoms of anxiety, in that they could be symptoms of cardiac or pulmonary problems. Observe how your relationship partner assists you during these periods. If you’re going to be saddled with anxiety problems/symptoms, you’d very likely want a partner who was at least understanding, if not actually helpful.
HOWEDY mti, As stated in the other post,

Your own POSTED CASE HISTORY is WON of lies abuse and neglect. this pup is basically an infant

That’s sheer IDIOCY. A dog is a dog. ANY three week old puppy got ALL THE BRAINS he needs to HOWEtwit the cunning of the domestic puppy dog abuser, as EVIDENCED BY YOUR OWN POSTED CASE HISTORY, mti <{) ; ~ ) and needs supervision mostly

Takes a couple HOWERS to TRAIN a puppy what to do… if you don’t SUPERVISE the dog DOIN BAD STUFF… like HOWE you "trained" your dog not to HURT the other dog… and some training,

lying frosty dahl SEZ you can’t HURT a dog till IT is four months old… but to expect consistent performance

LIKE HOWE The Amazing Puppy Wizard’s 100% CONSISTENTLY NEARLY INSTANTLY SUCCESSFUL FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual Students REPORT RIGHT HERE? from an infant is doomed to failure.

THAT’S INSANE. YOUR OWN POSTED CASE HISTORY IS WON OF DISMAL FAILURE. The best investment that any new dog owner can make is time spent with the animal

You mean when IT ain’t LOCKED IN A BOX. and consistency in behavior/training.

AS EVIDENCED IN YOUR OWN POSTED CASE HISTORY? BTW, there’s more than just one way to wind up with a good Lab.

THAT SO? You’re a LIAR a DOG ABUSER a COWARD and ACTIVE ACUTE LONG TERM INCURABLE MENTAL CASE, ACCORDIN TO YOUR OWN POSTED CASE HISTORY: HOWEDY mti, Your own POSTED CASE HISTORY makes you LOOK LIKE a LYING DOG ABUSING PUNK THUG COWARD ACTIVE ACUTE LONG TERM INCURABLE MENTAL CASE… DON’T IT: Most of "us" simply add the "wiz" to our "kill file" list or "block sender" option in e-mail software . . . however that doesn’t protect "us" from the people that feel the need to re-spam all of the newsgroups with their protests. So, do the rest of "us" a favor and just set your newgroup reader to "kill" and you won’t have to deal with the "wiz" again. For a stronger substance than Bitter Apple, there is Yuk, anti-lick gel, but I have to admit that it didn’t deter our guy. Our new lab puppy has taken to turning our 10 year old Golden’s nose to hamburger. The Golden’s temperment is so laid back that he won’t put the pup in its place, which means that we have to monitor, intervene and provide the "off" command constantly. HOWEDY MTI,

Our 10 week old male lab/golden pup has decided that my wife and our other dog, a 10 year old golden retriever, are chew toys and with those puppy teeth, he’s already put puncture wounds in both of them.

Well good for you, MTI. You been readin HOWER foums for a while NHOWE. You had enough yet? My wife and I discipline by mimicking the "yelp"

That’s sheer idiocy, MTI. The Puppy Wizard has thouroughly discredited that method and its chief proponent lt joel walton. and trying to distract with an apppropriate toy

BWEEEHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! You’re REWARDING the behavior by givin it anything. and it seems to work for me,

Perhaps that’s on accHOWENT of you INTIMIDATE your dog MOORE than your Mrs? but not for my wife.

RIGHT. As for the senior dog, he pretty much lets the pup pull his tail, ears and jowls without complaint,

Well, too bad he’s not able to train the pup for you. but we give the "off" command

Yeah. That’s paying him attention for his bad behavior. That REINFORCES it. whenever we see the pup gnawing on the old guy.

THAT will make your pup fear the older dog cause you’re punishing IT for PLAYIN with him. Is this puppy play biting a "phase"?

Your old dog has seizures cause you mishandled him. Anyone have any other strategies

You’re askin the liars and dog abusers who’s advice GOT you the PROBLEMS you got. for this otherwise good pup?

There’s nuthin the matter with your pup that NOT ABUSING IT wouldn’t CURE NEARLY INSTANTLY. Maybe faster. <{) ; ~ ) Our nearly a year old lab has had his for the last six months, and it works extremely well. What used to be "taking the owner for a drag" is no "taking the dog for a walk." With time, they do stop trying to paw the halter off and for a growing dog, it should be checked for adjustment. Unfortunately for us, the Gentle Leader was a short lived success. After about 6 months it no longer stopped them from dragging me down the street if they saw a squirrel, rabbit, cat etc. As well, it started to rub the fur off one of my labs so we stopped using it. BWEEEEEEEEEEEAAHAHAHAHHHAHHAAAAA!!! HOWEDY mti,

In addition to TPW, I’ve also added you to my kill file.

Permit The Puppy Wizard to ask the obviHOWES. HOWE COME did The Puppy Wizard slip HOWETA your killfile to reply to "The Puppy Wizard Is A Fraud?" AllHOWE please, The Puppy Wizard to answer the obviHOWES: You don’t have the intellect to HOWEtwit the cunnin of the domestic puppy dog… BEWEAHAHAHA!!! Here’s PROOF: We’ve been trying this technique for the past month and the "little nipper" is still going for hands, toes and shoes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the next level is? Thanks BWEEEEAAAAHAHAHAHAA!!!

Response:

HOWEDY CLG, Why should you "not even dignify with a response"?

On accHOWENT of you’d have to be a IDIOT to not notice a deaf dog… It is a legitimate question –

Yeah, but ONLY if you’re a IDIOT. we once adopted a puppy (cocker spaniel) who was very much deaf,

THAT’S SHEER IDIOCY. and it took us weeks to figure it out.

"NUFF SAID." BWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAHAHAHHAHHAAAAA!!!

Question:

BP meds MUST be taken like clockwork, every day. EVERY DAY. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve encountered who had a stroke, because they ran out of their BP meds on Saturday night, didn’t want to miss a TV show, and figured they’d take care of it the next day or on Monday. Subsequently, they no longer have use of their left arm, or leg, or can’t swallow correctly anymore, or worse. Just don’t do it, period. If it’s ordered every day, he/she wrote that for a reason. I am harsh with these things, I know, but being paralyzed from a stroke, or a cardiac cripple from an MI is much more harsh than I could ever be. Gary

I agree, Gary. BP is nothing to play around with. My mother’s dad died at the age of 49. He turned 49 in the hospital on life support due to a massive stroke. He died. I can remember he never would go to the doctor for those headaches, and I was only 3 years old! Now my mom has high blood pressure and so does my sister. Mine seems to be white coat syndrome but I am on atenolol because of one dreadful day. I will never miss my meds because atenolol has helped me with my rapid heartbeat and has kept my BP low. I am with Jackie on the fact that at home sometimes I feel a bit dizzy and all because my BP is normal at home. I don’t faint, so I guess it’s ok. I did have trouble with a rapid heartbeat so the med was needed, maybe not for BP. I have actually started taking it in the AM. I know they tell you to take it at night but it seems to help me more if I take it in the morning. I talked to my doc about this, of course. It doesn’t make me sleepy anymore. Plus it seems to have some sort of calming effect. Just my 2 cents. Vic

time to write: I was so tired after an emotionally stressful day. I shook almost all day. Does anyone else have a problem with shaking? I did many years ago. I was fuckin’ anxious about having panic attacks, and was shaking all day! It’s an extension of anticipatory anxiety, as I was anticipating always…. You may have been doing the same.

I’ve had problems with shaking my entire adult life. It usually seems related to needing to eat, however, more recently I find myself shaking badly when faced with a very stressful situation. I get really shaky and it often helps some to eat. Have you had a full 5 hour GTT (glucose tolerance test) ? You may have fluctuations in your blood sugar that can often be easily corrected through diet. It’s something that shouldn’t be overlooked, AFAIC.

At times I feel my body is so sensitive to what and when I eat that it would be impossible to regulate myself in a way that would create a balance so that I would feel ‘good’ all the time. But it would be nice to have a qualified professional work with me to try for those results. The job my husband currently has, with the state, is the first job in 13 years of marriage that has provided health care insurance for us. Aside from being on medicade during pregnancies, I have not had much experience with doctors. Most of the information I have gathered in the past about health concerns has been from listening to others’ experiences and reading about health problems, symptoms and cures, and trying them on myself when I feel I have heard about something that fits the description of my ailment. Issues such as anxiety and high bp are too sensitive for me to try to correct myself. It should be a relief ( and is to some degree) to be able to see a dr. about these issues. It’s discouraging, though, when, after I’ve already examined the possibilities that can be determined by comparing my symptoms to those of others, the dr. uses the same system to try to treat my symptoms. I haven’t mentioned that at the time I saw the MD I had a cough, which I explained was rather constant, but changing over the past year or two. Because other patients of his have been treated successfully for chronic coughs with antacid meds to reduce acid reflux he suggested I try it. Acid reflux is suspected to cause some respiratory irritation over a period of time due to aspiration while sleeping, Guess what? I didn’t take them, either. I did take the antibiotic he prescribed for what seemed to be an onset of bronchitis and now I am cough free, aside from a little tickle now and then. I told the doc that I have had acid reflux in the past and knew when I had it, and that I didn’t believe I did have it. But he wanted me to try it because it worked for others. No offers of testing me first. Just more meds. I am glad I didn’t take those and the others. The only regret I have is for stopping the Atenolol. I think I might have done this because I was mad that the dr. didn’t listen when I suggested a lower dose. No… he had to add three other meds and it doesn’t seem I am missing anything not taking them. No offense intended to any doctors in the group, but they really should listen better. I read an article about women not receiving preventative care concerning heart disease and that worried me. It wasn’t until I saw the nurse practitioner that I received an ekg. She said there was nothing on it to be concerned about. But at least I felt better knowing that. When under stress I still have this pain in my chest. It’s left of center and above the heart and hard to describe. I’m probably just worrying too much. Ok… so I’m rambling. Anon..

50 mg. I asked the nurse PT to allow me to lower the dose but I think she old me that’s usually the min. dose. My bp was a little high last night in spite of the Atenolol. Not too bad, 130/80, but higher than it should be. Why? This is a perfectly fine BP.

Of course it is. I was freaking out a bit. I couldn’t get to sleep, even though I was so tired after an emotionally stressful day. I shook almost all day. Does anyone else have a problem with shaking? I forget whether you’re on an SSRI. Are you? In that case it coud be a side effect and one you should mnention to your doctor. Of course it can also be a stress symptom.

No. I was on Lexapro, but ran out and was off them for five days before I saw the dr. again. He prescribed Welbutrin to go with them because I complained about a certain side effect, but I didn’t go back on the Lexapro and didn’t start the Welbutrin. There were too many meds at one time being offered to me and I was very uncomfortable with that. That’s when I just stopped taking everything. Perhaps I rebelled a bit. The dr. had also prescribed Coreg to go with the Atenolol for the rapid heartbeat. I haven’t taken that, either. The only thing the Nurse Practitioner wanted me to restart was the Atenolol. We’ll go from there. You know what really bothers me? Not one dr. has seriously and specifically informed me on diet changes and exercises. Of course, they all say that I should get some exercise and watch the caffeine, but there’s not been any real helpful advice regarding what ‘natural’ corrections I can make to help myself. It’s all been about the drugs. That really, really bothers me. Yes, I have brought up exercise and diet during my visits. In fact, if it was mentioned at all, I was the one to bring them up. The nurse practitioner was better than the others about discussing a possible remedy other than meds. She was pretty adamant about cutting out caffeine. And she talked about removing stress from my life, which may mean giving up either work or school. Neither is really an option. <deep breath I get really shaky and it often helps some to eat. Ah…well, there is your solution. Eat something.

Uh… yeah. Too many things wrong with me… it’s frustrating. And I’m not as bad off as others! It’s not a contest. We all have a serious condition.

Funny, I have to correct myself for thinking this way a lot. But… it also reminds me not to wallow in self-pity because others have problems, too. Anon…

Gary I agree, Gary. Vic

ALL EXXXCEPT the ENTROPIAN is CAUSED BY MISHANDLING.

Response:

HOWEDY Dave, Boxers are known to be dangerHOWES arHOWEND small children no matter HOWE HARD you TRY to raise and train them pupperly, according to Boxer Rescue of NC Boxer Dog Lover tara o. aka tee: "Tending To Agree With The Positive Reinforcement Method"? HOWEDY People, Hello Tara,

m… I tend to agree with the positive reinforcement method.

Oh, that’s nice. I tend to think people who tend to agree with positive reinforcement methods tend to be pulling our chains… That’s what I tend to think, based on my experience working with people who tend to agree with positive reinforcement who TEND TO hurt their dogs when their tendencies to use positive methods are outweighed by their tendencies to run out of information or intellect and TEND to get frustrated and TEND NOT to do the things they TEND TO believe are right, when they TEND to be frustrated, or TEND to be at a loss for INTELLECT, and TEND TO resort to violence because they TEND to be shy on BRAINS… I TEND TO view those folks as hypocrites, that’s what I TEND to do because I just happen to TEND to be HONEST, IMO, shock collars should be used only after normal obedience training methods have failed.

If your NORMAL obedience training TENDED to properly train dogs, there would be a TENDENCY to have well trained dogs. But that’s not the case, because NORMAL obedience training TENDS to provoke, intimidate, and confound your dog and inhibit his ability to think and learn to want to work and think and learn… SEE? That’s what I TEND to think about NORMAL obedience training which TENDS to FAIL because it TENDS to resort to VIOLENCE instead of TENDING TOWARDS THE MOST EFFECTIVE SCIENTIFIC METHODS AVAILABLE. It just bothers me to imagine shocking my dog, even at a very low frequency.

It bothers me less to think of shocking the dog than thinking about what punishment and confrontation can do to a dog’s temperament. That’s what I tend to think based on my thirty eight years professional experience training dogs. I will definitely admit that there are many dogs who either can’t or won’t benefit from training without such things as e-collars.

Is that based on your thirty eight years of experience specializing in temperament and behavior problems and protection training in giant breed dogs? Or is that based on your TENDENCY to believe incompetent dog abusing Thugs who tell you they TEND to get excellent results from HURTING dogs to train them because they TEND NOT TO be intelligent enough to outwit the cunning of the domestic puppy dog??? OR IS IT BASED ON YOUR TENDENCY TO MURDER YOUR OWN DEAD DOG Summer? I just hope its a last-resort, not a first.

And I just hope you figure out why your pals here who hurt dogs to train them TEND to claim they have me in their killfiles, because they TEND NOT TO be able to answer my questions in good conscience…That’s what they TEND to do around here because our lying dog abusing Thugs TEND to be INCOMPETENT, IMMORAL, UNETHICAL, UNPRINCIPLED, DOG ABUSING COWARDS. Like yourself. That’s what I tend to think. Your pal, Jerry "The PHONY," Howe. j;~} The Amazing Puppy Wizard. <{) ; ~ ) NC Boxer Rescue Abuse HOWEDY People Here’s WON of HOWER MENTAL CASES hurtin dogs and lying abHOWET it again. "I’m shocked that I shocked"

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Due to someone reprimanding Jar-Jar & the word "rescue" in the post, I decided to read down and see what he was spewing now. I was able to learn that besides choking, pinching, crating, abusing and murdering my dog, I also shocked her. I must be suffering from amnesia. Can someone point me to a post where I said I shocked my dog, or any dog, or that I even know *how* to use an e-collar….assuming I had one which must have been stolen at the same time I lost my memory. One would think Jerry would be happy with the "murder" part and all my other training sins but evidently not. — Tara

HOWEDY tara o., You didn’t HURT INTIMIDATE and MURFDER your own DEAD DOG Summer: Labs are a breed that are normally trained for field work with ear pinches, e-collars and other forms of physical interaction without making them fearful or aggressive.

I think its pertinent to mention that I’ve never had any dogs who exhibited signs of aggression or were in any way, shape, or form resistent to whatever "training" I did with them. I would not feel comfortable relying on my past experience or a book to train a dog to stop biting, snapping or growling. — Tara O.

I cant seem to understand why people believe prong collars are cruel and inhumane. They do nothing more than pinch, getting the attention of the animal. Choke collars, on the other hand, do permanent damage. They bruise the esophagus. Shock collars will eventually destroy nerve endings, much the same as electric fencing.

Joshua, you have just reopened a can of worms that can quickly cause infestation here lol — Tara O. People are tired of being abused and insulted simply for saying they use a prong collar, or a choke collar, or an e-collar, or a crate, etc. If you want to LEARN more about dog training and dog behavior, then listen to what they have to say, too.

"I’ve never not listened to what people say here. I use a crate, am about to begin with a choke collar, I’m not the bad guy here." tara o. ""Twzl, Sligo and Roy Happy Together"" wrote BTW, this is one of the frequent topics on obedience email lists. When people say that they haven’t used corrections, it turns out that they feel that if they do it, it’s not a real correction.

That makes sense in a weird sort of way. I don’t honestly think that its humanly possible to train anyone or anything without correction. Its human nature to say ‘no’ or to stop a behavior by doing something. I used a tin can with coins to correct Summer’s bad puppy behaviors and the cold shoulder to correct her other less desirable behaviors. I have said ‘no’ so many times that I probably sound like a broken record. Amie can attest to that lol. It seems to me that some people are automatically equating the term correction with punishment. I guess they can go hand in hand since my tin can wasn’t something Summer liked. My ignoring her when she’s misbehaving is also something she doesn’t like. Therefore it can be viewed as punishment? And that term is 100% negative. Maybe if more people saw it as correction and not the total negative, they’d be less inclined to want to be PP. Don’t know if the way I wrote that made sense, it makes sense in my head but then again the men with the white coats could come a’knockin at any moment. Tara O. Yes I see and understand your point. There’s no such thing as 100% vigilence 100% of the time IMO. You could call an e-fence company to find out if its possible to wire only your front door so that if she gets within a certain range of that front door the collar will start working. I’d think there would be a way to work that and it may be inexpensive to do so. There are also items called Scat Mats that you place in front of doors or any area you don’t want your dog to proceed through. When stepping on the mat, it gives off a vibration, something which most dogs hate. They’ll stay far away from the mats. I believe you can buy them from — Tara you could consider installing an invisible fence just inside the fence line so he cannot get too close. You could talk to your neighbor about splitting the cost of whichever alternative you both find most acceptable. — Tara I know people who have electric fences and it works very well for them. I know people who have them and whose dogs escape and refuse to come back in. From the details I know of all involved, I wouldn’t use an e-fence on: 1. An adult dog that wasn’t raised with the fence from a puppy 2. A dog with a high prey drive 3. A very stubborn dog If I put my female out in an e-fence, the very first kid, cat, dog or squirrel she sees would have her bolting through the barrier shock or not. When she finally loses interest in whatever has caused her to leave and her adrenalin has diminished, she will think rationally and realize she’s not willing to come back into the yard because she knows the shock would get her. you have a dog who just has to go after or up to any and everything that walks down the street then I’d definitely not recommend one of these systems. The people I know who it works for installed them when their dogs were pups so they were brought up trained to it. Two of the ones I know it didn’t work for have adult adopted dogs who weren’t raised with this kind of invisible barrier.

An indelible impression can sometimes be made by giving the dog a hard spanking of long duration, then leaving him tied by the mess he’s made so you can come back at twenty minute intervals and punish him again for the same thing. (Dogs are REALLY stupid. J.H.) In most cases, the dog that deliberately does this disagreeable thing cannot be made reliable by the light spanking that some owners seem to think is adequate punishment. It will be better for your dog, as well as the house, if you really pour it on him." "Housebreaking Problems: "The Koehler Method of Dog Training" Howell Book House, 1996" Occasionally, there is a pup who seems determined to relieve himself inside the house, regardless of how often he has the opportunity to go outside. This dog may require punishment. Make certain he is equipped with a collar and piece of line so he can’t avoid correction. When you discover a mess, move in fast, take him to the place of his error, and hold his head close enough so that he associates his error with the punishment. Punish him by spanking him with a light strap or switch. Either one is better than a folded newspaper. It is important to your future relationship that you do not rush at him and start swinging before you get hold of him. When he’s been spanked, take him outside. Chances are, if you are careful in your feeding and close observation, you will not have to do much punishing. Be consistent in your handling. To have a pup almost house-broken and then force him to commit an error by not providing an opportunity to go outside is very unfair. Careful planning will make your job easier. The same general techniques of housebreaking apply to grown dogs that are inexperienced in the house. For the grown dog who was reliable in the house and then backslides, the method of correction differs somewhat. In this group of "backsliders" we have the "revenge piddler." This dog protests being alone by messing on the floor and often in the middle of a bed. The first step of correction is to confine the dog closely in a part of the house when you go away, so that he is constantly reminded of his obligation. The fact that he once was reliable in the house is proof that the dog knows right from wrong, and it leaves you no other course than to punish him sufficiently to convince him that the satisfaction of his wrongdoing is not worth the consequences. If the punishment is not severe enough, some of these "backsliders" will think they’re winning and will continue to mess in the house. An indelible impression can sometimes be made by giving the dog a hard spanking of long duration, then leaving him tied by the mess he’s made so you can come back at twenty minute intervals and punish him again for the same thing. PS: If the "trainer" you were talking about isn’t on this list, he (or she) is NOT an approved Koehler trainer, no matter how loud you scream otherwise. May I laugh again? LOL! One doesn’t need to be on a list to use Koehlers methods or teach his methods. Let me be among the first (apparently) to tell you that not every trainer who uses a leash is a *Koehler* trainer. Sheesh. This person may call herself a Koehler trainer, but if she’s hanging 12 week old puppies, she’s about as far from a Koehler trainer as a dog trainer can possibly be. Again, this is just your IGNORANCE showing. I can call myself a devout Christian, but if I’m not adhering to the doctrine, I’m something else. http://www.koehlerdogtraining.com/patoflearn.html Sorry, the very first sentences make me aware that whoever wrote it knows nothing about PR based training: "Amidst the current (and politically correct) trend in Positive Reinforcement Only training systems" You cannot use PR only. Au contraire. Many, many posters to r.p.d.b. (and many other places as well) *claim* that they use nothing but R. You know, the PPers. And they do it quite loudly, too. Surely you aren’t blind (and deaf), as well as ignorant? Those are hard handicaps to overcome, Dogstar. And if you knew anything about PR BASED training, you would realize that. It’s not all cookies and babytalk. There is no stronger supporter of R than Handsome Jack Morrison, but I also use every behavioral tool in my bag, including R-, P, and P-, because I know that even R has its limits. You’d know that too, if you didn’t have your head in the sand. But that seems to be the battle cry of the Koehler-ites. The Koehlerites have no battle cry. They have behaviorism on their side, and that’s more than enough. I don’t need instruction on how to give my dogs a proper leash correction as I do not rely on a leash to control or teach my dog. That may or may not be suitable for your needs, but it’s not suitable for the majority of dog owners, especially since the advent of leash laws. Besides, after just a few weeks of proper Koehler training, Koehler dogs likewise are no longer in need of a leash. That you apparently don’t know that, once again shows me just how ignorant of anything to do with Koehler you are. My last two dogs have been trained offleash right from the start, using rewards for what I like, and nothing for what I don’t like. Good for you, and if that level of training is good enough for you, fine. But it’s not good enough for many of the rest of us. Again, I’m not saying Koehler doesn’t work. I really have no idea what you’re saying anymore, because you apparently know so damn little about Koehler and behavioral principles in general that it’s hard to have an informed discussion with you. PS: It boggles my mind at how stupid you must be to keep denying that those certain harsh methods are only for LAST RESORT situations, intended only to SAVE A DOG’S LIFE, even after I’ve repeatedly given you direct *quotes* from Koehler’s book saying just that. It’s like you don’t even care how stupid people think you are, or how devious you are, etc. That can’t help your cause any. You’d think that you’d at least want to *appear* to be honest, even if you’re not. — Handsome Jack Morrison *gently

Unfortunately, most people either do it incorrectly, do it at the wrong time, etc. or where they tell you that you didn’t hit him hard enough if he doesn’t yelp or approaches you within 5 minutes of his punishment? If physical discipline is deemed necessary (after careful evaluation), it’s much more cruel not to get it over with quickly than it is to do it incrementally and half-heartedly, which usually only invites the need for even more discipline. Maybe you liked when they recommend these beatings for housebreaking accidents, chewing/destructive behavior, stealing, trying to get on your bed at night and dog on dog aggression. At no time do the Monks *ever* advocate beating a dog. A swat on the rump or a check to the chin does *not* constitute a "beating." I’m sorry if you don’t agree. And each of those behavior "problems" needs to be looked at in its proper context. A quote from the Monks: "We repeat, these situations may merit physical discipline. Since no book can pretend to analyze every individual dog and situation, we feel obligated to emphasize from the outset that discipline is never an arbitrary training technique to be applied to each and every dog for all offenses. We do, however, believe that physical and verbal discipline can be an effective technique. The best policy if you experience any of the above problems is to consult a qualified trainer or veterinarian for evaluation of your individual situation…. "If discipline is decided upon as a training technique, it should be the proper technique. We feel we have developed several methods that depend less on violent physical force than timing, a flair for drama, and the element of surprise. We feel an obligation, as responsible trainers, to map out these methods, rather than simply skip the topic because it is unpleasant. Dog owners want to know what to do." In other words, physical discipline is reserved for those serious, special occasions when other methods have failed. For example, they do not recommend using physical discipline for *routine* housebreaking chores — only

HOWEDY Dave, Hi, My wife and I are looking for any advice

Decent people do not post here abHOWETS, Dave. on what dog breeds might best fit our lifestyle.

So you’re asking liars dog abusers cowards and active long term incurable MENTAL CASES who blame the BREED for their inability to HOWEtwit the cunning of the domestic puppy dog for their OPINION abHOWET what BREEDS of dogs they THINK PREFER to get jerked choked shock and intimidated bribed and lock in boxes, Dave? I hate to just paste a checklist of requirements

Like HOWER RESCUE dog lovers, Dave? They put "applicants" through the third degree drill to make SHORE their RESCUE dogs are gonna be pupperly CON-TROLLED and surgically mutilated to PREVENT unwanted pets and ACCIDENTS like peejoe’s and perry aka bencajungirl’s DEAD DOGS. These RESCUE DOG LOVERS want to make SHORE you’re gonna be a RESPONSIBLE dog owner, Dave. They’re gonna teach you to HURT and INTIMIDATE your dog, Dave. LIKE THIS: lyinglynn writes to a new foster care giver: For barking in the crate – leave the leash on and pass it through the crate door. Attach a line to it. When he barks, use the line for a correction. – if necessary, go to a citronella bark collar. Lynn K. b/c it’s so impersonal,

Well, just think of it LIKE THIS, Dave: "Granted That The Dog Who Fears Retribution Will Adore His Owner," lying "I LOVE KOEHLER" lynn. but I think it covers the important points

Are you gonna be a RESPONSIBLE dog owner, Dave? Are you gonna do what you got to do to make SHORE your dog is a SAFE member of HOWER community, Dave? captain arthur haggerty SEZ: "A CHIN CHUCK" Makes A ResoundingSound Distraction: "When You Chuck The Dog The Sound Will Travel Up The Mandible To The Ears And Give A Popping Sound To The Dog." "An indelible impression can sometimes be made by giving the dog a hard spanking of long duration, then leaving him tied by the mess he’s made so you can come back at twenty minute intervals and punish him again for the same thing. In most cases, the dog that deliberately does this disagreeable thing cannot be made reliable by the light spanking that some owners seem to think is adequate punishment. It will be better for your dog, as well as the house, if you really pour it on him," wm koehler. In article : I would assume that all puppies like to bite and chew on just about anything. How do you train a young puppy NOT to chew on hands and feet? Although there is a time and place for saying ‘no’ and giving the dog a scruff shake I do no know if this is appropriate at this age.

At this point, "No" does not have any behavioral function. But, if you say "No,"pick up the puppy by its neck and shake it a bit, and the frequency of the biting decreases then you will have achieved too things. First, the frequency of unwanted chewing has decreased; and two, you have established "No" as a conditioned punisher. How much neck pulling and shaking? Just the minimum necessary to decrease the unwanted biting. When our dog was a puppy, "No" came before mild forms of punishment (I would hold my dog’s mouth closed for a few seconds.) whereas "Bad Dog" came before stronger punishement (the kind discussed above). My dog is about 1.5 years old. "No" is usually sufficient but sometimes I use "Bad Dog" to stop a behavior. "Bad Dog" ALWAYS works. then, of course, quickly say "Good Dog" when he is appropriately behaving. In providing verbal punishment and reinforcement as in using nonverbal punishement and reinforcement, timing is very important. Use these consquences to control behavior much as in the game where a child is told "your getting hot" or "your getting cold." If the delay between the behavior and the consquence is too long then the behavior will not appropriately change. –Marshall that we’ve put together in the last few weeks.

So you’d PREFER to ask the advice of proven liars dog abusers cowards and active long term incurable MENTAL CASES, Dave? Here are the points in no particular order of importance:

EVERY thing is IMPORTANT, Dave. – little/No drooling

Drooling is CAUSED by STRESS, Dave. – Zero to little shedding

EXXXCESSIVE shedding is CAUSED BY STRESS, Dave. – Good for allergies

That’s a little different. Maybe a Airdale or Poodle or Bichon. – Not overly active/energetic/hyoer all the time

HYPERACTIVITY is CAUSED by STRESS, Dave. Here’s professor of ANAL-ytic behaviorISM research at UofWI marshall "SCRUFF SHAKE and SCREAM "NO!" into ITS face for five seconds and lock IT in a box for ten minutes contemplation" dermer: Mine will go "bonkers" if he has been exercise deprived. (I need to be able to work out of the house during the day and eat dinner in peace)

Then you’re gonna LOVE any dog on accHOWENT of a dog is a dog, Dave. – Will be relatively calm indoors

A dog is a dog, Dave. and not too attention seeking

Well, THAT’S the nature of the beast, Dave. Dogs kids an ladies are ALL the SAME SAME: Aggression, Opposition And Allelomimetic Behavior – Teaching RESPECT For Your HIGHER INTELLIGENCE – "BAD DOG ALWAYS WORKS!!!" Here’s professor of ANAL-ytic behaviorISM research at UofWI marshall "SCRUFF SHAKE and SCREAM "NO!" into ITS face for five seconds and lock IT in a box for ten minutes contemplation" dermer: "Mine will go "bonkers" if he has been exercise deprived." (similar but not the same as last point)

It’s ALL THE SAME SAME, Dave. "His Amazing Progress Almost Makes Me Cry.
Trainin dogs is EZ FAST GENTLE and FREE, Dave. – Can train not to chew furniture

CAN’T DO THAT, Dave. ASK THE EXXXPERTS.
Well, THAT’S a other PROBLEM, Dave. – High likelihood of long-term health

Look up professor SCRUFF SHAKE’S little DEATHLY ILL dog Maxie The Magnificent FuriHOWESLY Obsessive Compulsive Masturbator’s POSTED CASE HISTORY of CHRONIC STRESS INDUCED AUTO- IMMUNE DIS-EASE, Dave. You can enjoy exercising your dog as much as is heelthy for him so long as you’re NOT doin it to CON-TROLL his HYPERACTIVITY from being choked shocked bribed crated and punished or you’ll be sayin: "Mine will go "bonkers" if he has been exercise deprived" like the freakin CONGENITAL MENTAL CASES you’re askin here abHOWETS, David.
You’ll need to mix it with vinegar and lemon juice. You can TRAIN him NOT to jump on the furniture by givin him an ALTERNATE INCOMPATIBLE BEHAVIOR, like lockin IT in a crate or givin IT a five mile run behind your bicycle like HOWE professor "SCRUFF SHAKE and ‘SCREAM NO! into ITS face for 5 seconds and lock IT in a box for ten minutes contemplation" dermer of the UofWI department of ANAL-ytic behaviorISM does his little dog Maxie The Magnificent FuriHOWESLY Obsessive Compulsive Masturbator to CON-TROLL his OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE anxiHOWESNESS MASTURBATION DISORDER. UNLESS of curse you got a BREED that CAN’T BE TRAINED on accHOWENT OF he’s HARD WIRED for chasin garbage cans and C-HOWENTER SURFIN and HOWEsbreakin? TRY THIS: "Many People Have Problems Getting The Pinch Right, Either They Do Not Pinch Enough, Or They Have A Very Stoic Dog. Some Dogs Will Collapse Into A Heap. In most cases, the dog that deliberately does this disagreeable thing cannot be made reliable by the light spanking that some owners seem to think is adequate punishment. It will be better for your dog, as well as the house, if you really pour it on him," wm koehler. or will that make it worse?

If so, you AIN’T DOIN the TECHNIQUE right: "Granted That The Dog Who Fears Retribution Will Adore His Owner," lying "I LOVE KOEHLER" lynn. "CHUCK IT Under ITS Chin With That Ever Ready Right Hand, As it catches on, try using the stick and no ear pinch (stay on the ear until it does) (perhaps because the ear is getting tender, or the dog has decided it isn’t worth it)," lying frosty dahl. Some dogs just never learn from BEIN NICE to them. What BREED is IT?:

"Whatever motivates the dog, but I daresay most of the dogs I have in classes just aren’t that interested in praise." If the dog doesn’t LEARN from BEIN NICE and if a CHIN CHUCK doesn’t WORK, that’s just a "continued resistance to your increasing authority, and the job is not done until it is overcome," lying frosty dahl.

Hi, Francisco is 11 years old, very happy, very, very active, extremely healthy, runs faster than the wind, is very playful and weighs 14 pounds. Never saw a flea or a tick in his life. Sometimes a bit obsessive with his toys..wants to play ball all day long! Suddenly he’s showing signs of not seeing very well. He does better in bright sunlight than in the dark, so I started giving him a vitamin A pill once week for possible night blindness. He’s bumped into things only a few times and only in the dark. One vet said it appears to be cataracts. Another vet’s opinion has it that there appears to be no problem with his eyes at all. I suggested laziness, perhaps he is depeneding too much on his sense of smell instead of his eyes. The second vet says it’s a possibility. It breaks my heart when he’s chasing a ball and suddenly can’t find it. His little tail swooshes back and forth out of excitement because he can’t find, (see) the ball. Anyone with a similar situation that can throw some ideas my way??? I’d rather put myself down than part with this little guy, but I don’t want to see him in this condition. Mike

If the eye appears to be clouded or yellow it is probably cataracts. http://www.animaleyecare.net/diseases/cataract.htm#risks See the site above. Cataracts should be a pretty simple diagnosis so I think you need to get a referral to a specialist from the first doctor and see shat he says. I had a 14 yr old poodle 8 lbs he had cataracts but never bumped into things so I would see an ophthalmologist to see what the problem is.
Have you told the vet you are giving this vitamin? Have you and the vet discussed the correct dose etc? Vitamin A must be used with much caution. He’s bumped into things only a few times and only in the dark. One vet said it appears to be cataracts. Another vet’s opinion has it that there appears to be no problem with his eyes at all.

Your observations support the first conclusion better than the second. I would see a veterinary opthomologist who has the intrumentation and experience to do a complete exam. I suggested laziness,

Unlikely. perhaps he is depeneding too much on his sense of smell instead of his eyes. The second vet says it’s a possibility. It breaks my heart when he’s chasing a ball and suddenly can’t find it. His little tail swooshes back and forth out of excitement because he can’t find, (see) the ball.

If it distresses him and he has a choice in the matter then common sense says he will choose to be less distressed. PRA causes vision impairment, and often blindness, and it is common in Poodles. Anyone with a similar situation that can throw some ideas my way??? I’d rather put myself down than part with this little guy, but I don’t want to see him in this condition.

Blindness is not fatal unless you choose to kill your dog because of it. A modest amount of sensitivity about what his vision problems mean to him, and some modest adjustments in how and where you play, and with what and he can enjoy many more years of life. At this point his vision is only impaired, he still seems to have useful vision. But even if he did not most dogs can adjust quite nicely, if you give them the support to do so. http://www.eyevet.info/blind.html http://www.blinddogs.com/ http://www.blinddog.info/blinddoghelp.htm — Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/

*NOT* true, and you’re probably scaring people unnecessarily here. The most common cause of cloudy-looking eyes in older dogs is a condition called nuclear sclerosis, a normal finding in aging dogs that does not interfere with vision. See photo at http://www.vetmed.iastate.edu/services/vth/clinical/ophth/faq-vet.asp… I would see an ophthalmologist to see what the problem is.

There I agree with you entirely. To the OP – there is a list of board-certified veterinary opthalmologists at http://www.vmdb.org/clinic.html. Even though the vets you’ve seen already may be good ones, they do not see the variety of eye problems that an opthalmologist does. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with one.
Mike, I have a little dog, high energy, loves her ball – and she is blind in one eye, and blurry in the other. She was depressed for a couple of weeks after the surgery that saved her eyes, but has returned to her usual high energy self. I’ve really enjoyed watching her learn to cope. Her "good" eye sees movement very well, so if she sees the ball moving, she’s after it in a flash. If it goes on her blind side, she listens for it to bounce, then goes there and looks for it with her "good" eye and her nose. Remember that dogs don’t sit around going, "I’m blind, oh woe is me, what a loss." They don’t have the kind of self-sense that worries about stuff like that. I’ll bet you can find a Yahoo group for owners of blind dogs. Meantime, follow the good advice and find a canine ophthalmologist.

I’ve mentioned several times in here how great my company has been and how my 10 years of good work seemed to count for something. HA! After mentally hitting the wall on Wednesday… leaving sick, taking the next two days off to regroup… I apparently pissed off the new boss. I tried to prepare everyone before I started but like I said before, you can explain but unless you’ve been on tx, you can never fully understand. I got written up today for being too hard to deal with (ie…too stressed, too emotional etc.). My work has never ever been a problem. Everyone thinks I’m great…they just want me to be "nicer". Part of the problem is I am a female in a male dominated business. That old double standard lives and breathes. And if you don’t believe me…ask yourself when the last time was someone told you to smile. The thing is…being written up for something that is literally a medical condition and that I have almost no control over is basically just documentation for a firing. What would be the point in telling someone to fix something that is a temporary medical condition. Do I quit tx to make work happy (NOT). So…tomorrow I see the doc to fill out the disability papers. I am totally bummed. Partly because this tx is now effecting me physically, mentally and financially. Two out of three was bad enough. Even more so, I am upset because I thought I was worth it. The idea that I was good enough the other 9.5 years for them to be patient for 6 months meant something. Now it’s basically ‘no one likes you and we would be happier if you were gone". Nice. No worries, I am distraught, emotionally upset..but not suicidal. Right now I am focused on me….and finding a different job when I get off tx. In my heart I know they will suffer more than I will when I am gone so fuck them. I hope they will be happy with all their buddies working for them, doing half the work and making twice as many mistakes as I ever made.! (can you tell I am upset?) AG ( 8 weeks to go)

AG, first of all I’d like to say that I’m very sorry to hear your work situation has suddenly deteriorated. Only 2 more months to go too. Just because the boss says nobody likes you doesn’t mean that is so. People are full of shit and will greatly exaggerate things. You know, you can never count on 9.5 years or even much more because there is always the "what have you done for me lately" thing. You’re already on anti-Ds aren’t you? Maybe disability will be good for you. Especially, something like Gordo mentioned. I hope your present mental state passes quickly and you get on track to do what is best for YOU. Tx will soon be over and perhaps all is not lost there.

No worries Daniel…I new you were joking and Elmo probably did too. The debate to medicate or not to medicate is an old one. For some people anti-d’s are a god send and they can’t understand why everyone wouldn’t want them. I did tell someone no a couple of weeks ago when they asked to cut in front of me at the store. It was one of those days when the lines were long and the checkers few. I probably had 30 items and some woman with like one thing asked if she could go in front of me…and I told her no..that I had been waiting long enough. How rude is that? Normally I offer to let people in front of me. I am that person that slows down and waves people out of drive ways when they are trying to merge into traffic. I know it’s the meds, and the lack of sleep and the head aches, but knowing doesn’t make it easier to deal with. AG

I was only attempting to point out that we are all experiencing extreme emotional stress that we ordinarily don’t. I guess you have to understand my bizzarro sense of hummer.
HOWEDY Willow,

I last posted on July 11th because of Maxx displaying so many symptoms of poor health.

S-HOWENDS like your dog got The Puppy Wizard’s SYNDROME. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – He has had some tests since then. A blood panel, stomach xray, and urine test. I also have asked for a 6 panel test for Thyroid as was suggested last week. His symptoms: overweight- which has come down from 26lbs. to today, 22.1 lbs.; refusal to walk more than a few steps, when he was walking as much as 1 mile per walk; excessive panting; bloated belly- pot bellied looking; but instead of increased appetite and water consumption, these have decreased. I changed his food from Max cans and kibble to cooked chicken and Science diet adult kibble, to accomplish the weight loss over a period of about 6 weeks. We are waiting for the results of urine test. Vet said he has slightly enlarged liver, but not irregular. She suspects Cushings Disease at this point. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Here’s part of it. The rest you’ll find in your FREE copy of The Amazing Puppy Wizard’s FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual: Wilson’s Thyroid Syndrome — Hypothyroidism – – Hypothyroid — Thyroid disease Identifying The Problem(s) Can You See Yourself In One Of The Following Scenarios? Many people with persistent health problems that respond well to Restorative Medicine have symptoms that: Scenario 1 Came on or worsened under periods of severe physical or emotional stress. Persist even after the stress has passed. Can get worse in stages with each subsequent stress. Scenario 2 Come on and worsen more gradually over time. Let’s begin to explore these scenarios by first defining health, in general, and then looking at health from a Restorative Medicine standpoint. The Definition of Health Health is defined as "an organism functioning optimally." An organism is defined as "a body made up of organs that work together to carry on the various processes of life." An organ is defined as "a part of an organism adapted for a specific function." Thus, the optimal function, or health, of an organism depends upon all of the organs of the body working together properly. Therefore, poor health must be due to the organs not all working together properly. The Body Can Usually Heal Itself Of Sickness And Injury, But Sometimes It Can’t Under normal conditions the body has an amazing capacity to repair itself, overcome illness, and return itself to good health. The body can usually repair cuts and bruises, broken bones, bacterial and viral infections, and even handle impressive amounts of stress and hardship. On the other hand, some injuries and illnesses can leave the body with permanent damage such as blindness from an accident, partial paralysis due to polio, or even death. For example, AIDS can weaken the body’s ability to protect and repair itself to the point that it can finally be overcome by a type of infection healthy people normally wouldn’t even get. Too Severe To Go Away On Their Own, But Haven’t Yet Caused Permanent Damage Between these two extremes are health problems that are too severe for the body to repair or overcome under the present conditions, but not so severe that they have caused permanent damage. In other words, the problems are reversible or curable and it’s still possible for the body to be restored to normal health. If the body is not able to overcome certain health problems under the present circumstances, sometimes the body will be able to recover if the circumstances are changed. For example, many people are able to recover with improved diet, exercise, and rest. While others can remain sick even with plenty of exercise, rest, and dietary experimentation. It’s often hard to know what dietary substances the body might need, to help it recover. In addition, if some health problems are so severe that they can cause permanent damage and even death, then certainly there can be health problems that are so severe that they can’t be easily corrected with changes in diet, exercise, and rest alone. They might require definitive restorative medical intervention. To review, here is a range of severity for health problems ranging from least to greatest: The body 1st degree: can correct the problems on its own under the present circumstances. 2nd degree: can correct the problems on its own under improved circumstances (such as diet, exercise, and rest). 3rd degree: cannot correct the problems on its own, but they can be corrected with restorative medical treatment since there is little, if any, permanent damage. 4th degree: cannot fully recover because there is permanent damage of part(s) of the body. 5th degree: cannot survive because of death or impairment of part(s) of the body. How The Organs Of The Body Are Supposed To Work Together Organisms are essentially systems of organs that convert dietary substances and energy from food into function. There are organs that help extract dietary substances from food. use those substances to repair and maintain themselves. help extract and store the energy from food. use that energy to perform many specialized functions. determine the rate at which that energy is converted into function. Thus, we have energy that is regulated to provide function. Many organs provide many specialized functions, but the parts of the body involved in the regulation of energy play a central role since energy is required for all other bodily functions. The way the organs work together can be compared to a tree. A tree has a trunk, and it has branches. The parts of the body that regulate the energy or metabolism of the body can be thought of as the trunk of the tree. And the other parts and organs of the body that provide specialized functions can be thought of as the branches. Just as the trunk runs up the center of a tree and affects all the branches, so too does the metabolism affect all other bodily functions. What Can Go Wrong? Poor health must be due to the organs not all working together properly. Persistent health problems must be due to persistent derangements in the function of one or more parts of the body. Referring to our tree analogy we can see that poor health must be due to persistent malfunctioning of the organ(s) [or branches], the metabolism [or trunk], or both. One Problem Can Lead To Another Under periods of stress (such as childbirth, divorce, or death of a loved one) the metabolism can slow down as a coping mechanism. That’s a normal response the body uses to conserve energy. After the stress has passed, the metabolism is supposed to return to normal but sometimes it doesn’t. The metabolism can remain persistently slow, as demonstrated by a low body temperature, even though the stress has passed. This condition is known as Wilson’s Thyroid Syndrome (WTS) because it causes low-thyroid-like symptoms and because it often responds characteristically well to a special thyroid medicine treatment, even though thyroid blood tests are often normal (You can use the links at the top left of this page to find out more about WTS). When the metabolism slows down it can adversely affect all other bodily functions as in the illustrations below, Health problems can also begin in the branches, or organs of the body and affect the function of other organs. Since good health depends on the organs of the body working together properly, it’s easy to see that a problem with one part of the body can easily cause strain on others. That strain can result in malfunction of those other parts as well. This can also sometimes start a downward spiral of poor health. And just as diseased branches can eventually affect the health of a trunk, so too can malfunctioning organs eventually begin to strain and slow down the metabolism. As the metabolism slows, the organs may function even worse, which may cause the metabolism to slow down even more. Which Scenario Do You Fit Into? If you have symptoms and a low body temperature and normal blood tests then it’s likely your metabolism is being affected by Wilson’s Syndrome. If you have various symptoms but your temperature is normal then you might just have some impaired organ function. Of course, you could have both. One Improvement Can Lead To Another The good news is that correcting a problem with one part of the body can relieve some of the strain on other parts. This can often lead to an upward spiral of restored health. Improving the metabolism can help organ function, and improving organ function can help the metabolism. And when the organs and metabolism are functioning well the body is healthy. Now that we’ve discussed health in general, let’s learn about Wilson’s Thyroid Syndrome and its effect on the metabolism. How WTS Relates To: Hypothyroidism Fibromyalgia Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Euthyroid Sick Syndrome Diet and Weight Loss Infertility Health Problems/ Symptoms Fatigue Headaches & Migraines PMS Easy Weight Gain Depression Irritability Fluid Retention Anxiety & Panic Attacks Hair Loss Poor Memory Poor Concentration Low Sex Drive Unhealthy Nails Dry Skin & Hair Cold Intolerance / Heat Intolerance Low Motivation Low Ambition Insomnia Allergies Acne Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Asthma Hives And many others…

All those SELF INDUCED AUTO-IMMUNE DIS-EASE symptoms are CAUSED BY STRESS, aka The Puppy Wizard’s SYNDROME.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – His symptoms: overweight- which has come down from 26lbs. to today, 22.1 lbs.; refusal to walk more than a few steps, when he was walking as much as 1 mile per walk; excessive panting; bloated belly- pot bellied looking; but instead of increased appetite and water consumption, these have decreased. We are waiting for the results of urine test. Vet said he has slightly enlarged liver, but not irregular. She suspects Cushings Disease at this point. ….No standard blood tests back yet? With a pot-belly and excessive panting it may be Cushings, though usually dogs want more food and water with this disease. It does sound like some kind of endocrine problem and occasionally you’ll get a dog with 2 endocrine problems going on. Here’s a good site on Cushings that you can also check for Addison’s disease and hypothyrodism: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/cushing_symptoms.html Another good site on Cushings: http://www.kateconnick.com/library/cushingsdisease.html A good general vet site to explore lots of questions: www.vetinfo.com A good site to explain general bloodwork: http://www.nwlabs.co.uk/testinterpindx.html Hope they can get it figured out. Keep us posted. buglady take out the dog before replying

Yet another totally critical response with no constructive suggestions.

You ain’t figgered it HOWET yet, Tony? You’re dealin with liars dog abuserss cowards and active incurable long term MENTAL CASES. I rest my case.

You mean you don’t need to SEE the QUOTES??? Some of you seem to only be able to respond negatively.

It’s a defense mechanism. Is it that you put everyone else in one basket when you deal with them?

There’s only two baskets. WON got the basket case mental patients liars and dog abusers. The other got folks who recognize that we’re dealin with liars dog abusers cowards and mental cases. THAT’S HOWE COME DECENT PEOPLE DO NOT POST HERE abHOWETS, Tony. You will not fix either the cruelty problem or the abandonment problem by attacking those people who are actively trying to find answers to the problems.

Master Of Deception blankman ain’t got no solutions. IN FACT she’s GOT THE SAME PROBLEM and SHOCKS and sprays aversives in her dog’s faces and day boarded them at the sick animal HOWEspital till she stiffed the vet for the board money. Cruelty and abandonment often occur when owners either run out of answers

Like HOWE Master Of Decepton blankman recommended MURDERING a dog for a HOWEsbreaking problem just yesterday, Tony. or can no longer be bothered to look for them.

ALL the INFORMATION you need is in your FREE copy of The Amazing Puppy Wizard’s FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual. Ask professor SCRUFF SHAKE or ed w of PET LOSS dot COIN. For my money,

FOR FREE, Tony. It’s FOR FREE. I think it would be great if only experienced and dedicated dog-lovers were allowed to keep dogs …

THAT would put HOWER dog lovers HOWETA business BIG TIME. there’d certainly be a hell of a lot less of them wandering the streets, mauling children and barking at all hours of the night. Imagine if we all took to keeping pigs instead?

Seems like some of HOWER dog lovers mothers had done just that, eh Tony? If you had bothered to read any of my other posts, you’d know that I keep our dogs in the house 90% of the time and every night.

Is that on accHOWENT of you can’t train them? You’d also know that one of my dogs was a stray who’d been abandoned by its owner and was in a very poor state when he came to us.

Well he got LUCKY then. You’d also know that I use this group to try to find appropriate ways to deal with behaviours I don’t understand.

Ooops! Looks like his LUCK done run HOWET. I am neither a dog lover nor a dog hater … the dogs nominally belong to my children, but like most teens they have other things on their minds right now, so I inherit the problem of managing them,

Well THAT’S HOWE COME you’re still readin HOWER forum, Tony. You’ve been following the advice of liars dog abusers cowards and MENTAL CASES. whether I want to or not.

Do you have a case history of mental illness, Tony? Unfortunately this seems to be the only place

You mean HOWER DOG ABUSERS forums. where questions like these can be asked,

You mean abHOWET HURTIN dogs to train them. but some of the people here have no interest in answering questions,

Perhaps they ain’t got no ANSWERS, Tony. only in looking for hidden signs of cruelty

You mean tell tail signs, like that pronged spiked pinch choke or shock or aversive spray collar arHOWEND the dog’s neck? or mistreatment.

You mean, like using the devices they recommend? Tony

When are you gonna figger it HOWET? HOWEDY Master Of Deception blankman,

I think you need a reality check, Diane. Perhaps it is you that needs a reality check.

You’re a proven liar dog abuser and mental case. Ordinary people (as distinct from breeders and the like) don’t reconstruct their properties to suit their dogs. Since about 63% of dogs are given up before the age of two

That’s on accHOWENT of the INFORMATION they get from liars dog abusers coswards an active incurable long term MENTAL CASES like yourself and sindy SADIST MOOREON at k9web.com and HOWER professors in university behavior departments who hurt dogs and lie abHOWET it. Ask professor SCRUFF shake or dr. p from UofWI. THEY’LL ADMIT THEY HURT DOGS and LIE ABHOWET IT. perhaps there is a reason.

INDEEDY. It’s called MENTAL ILLNESS. <snip If you are unwilling or unable to provide for the needs of a dog, then don’t have a dog.

BWEEEEHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAA!!! YOU HURT DOGS AND LIE ABHOWET IT. Tens of thousands of people successfully keep dogs in good condition without having any kind of yard, and no dog runs.

Yeah. But you gotta shock and jerk and choke them on pronged spiked pinch choke collars and lock them in boxes cause YOU’RE A DOG ABUSER A LIAR and a GODDAMNED MENTAL CASE. <snip My suggestions are quite practical.

You advise people to abuse their dogs like HOWE you do your own. I learned them from my family many years ago.

"The fruit don’t fall far from the goddamned fruitcake," The Puppy Wizard’s DADDY. They are effective and relatively inexpensive.

Perimeter trainin is FREE and NEARLY INSTANT. Having learned the benefits of using a dog run instead of giving a dog free run of the yard I would never go back.

Your dogs will ESCAPE your yard if they get a chance. For one thing dogs left outside and barking in my area can suffer mysterious deaths.

You’ve had a CHRONIC BARKING PROBLEM with your own dogs for which you’ve day boarded them at the sick animal HOWEspital till you couldn’t afford to pay your board bill and the vet threw you HOWET like GARBAGE. <snip Hmmmm – I think I suggested that keeping the dog inside was an option.

You mean INSTEAD of breaking the ANXIHOWESNESSthat causes the d og to bark cause YOU DON’T KNOW HOWE, Master Of Deception blankman. I think the word "cruel" is too strong,

You’re a DOG ABUSER a LIAR and MENTAL CASE. but my suggestions are less distressful to the dog than those choices.

That so? <snip I suppose it depends upon what you mean by criticism,

Too many words again? and whether you want only what want to hear or whether you are open to change.

AN EXXXCELLENT POINT. THAT’S HOWE COME YOU CAN’T POST HERE abHOWETS nogoddamned MOORE. Diane Blackman

HOWEDY tara o..,

That so? That’s the kind of advice which got YOUR dog Summer DEAD. You’ll find training tips,

That’s hugely debatable, tara o.. health tips and a host of articles that cover just about any training or behavioral issue.

HOWEDY Eric,

  I really can’t give advise.

Only WON piece of advice you need… All I can do is tell you about my dog.

That’s nice, but he ain’t no different than any other dog. All behavior problems are caused by mishandling. That’s a PROVEN FACT. Aren’t there two distinct issues?

Nope. That’s HOWE COME The Puppy Wizard’s FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual Students get 100% TOTAL CONTROL, NEARLY INSTANTLY. CONSISTENTLY. That means we got MAGICK workin for us. You can call it SCIENCE if you like, HOWEver. 1. How the dog relates to you

That’s the ONLY thing you gotta worry abHOWET. 2. How the dog relates to Ezra

That’s irrelevent. That’s determined by their handling. The first issue should be of great concern.

Right. That’s the first reason you HURT dogs. You FEAR them and the behaviors you don’t have the intellect to HOWEtwit. Dogs do not do things for no reason. Dogs can learn MOORE and faster than you can, cause they’re not WORRIED abHOWET control and FEAR. I am dealing with it every day.

INDEEDY. Pass the crying tHOWEL. Time has helped a lot because it took a long time for each of us to understand the other –

No. Your dog ain’t no different than any other MISHANDLED dog. But I could be wrong about New Guy, so we move on to the next issue.

New Guy was FINE till looney toons started scolding and punishing and intimidating him… you been readin HOWER forum, chump? But issue 2 . . . Hmmm. . . Even "normal" dogs tend to duke things out for control/affection/attention etc.

That so? Could be DEADLY. Sometimes it takes more than one big fight.

That so? The Puppy Wizard sez you’re a dog abuser and a blowhard. It is part of being a dog.

No. It’s part of bein ABUSED by the BOSS. Not to sound flip,

You’re a PUSSY. but who are you to decide that Ezra should be "top dog"

Cause he was there first. Ezra has quite a bite history. Bit a child a few months back, and a jogger, and several friends and family members, includin morty. because he has been there the longest?

See? Are these Union Dogs?

HOWEDY laura, Hi Lone, I’m so sorry to hear that New Guy is proving so challenging.

Yeah. Like your DEAD DOG Chewie, eh laura? He seems like a dog who needs a break,

Oh? You mean, like your DEAD DOG Chewie? but he also sounds very demanding.

INDEEDY! Just like your DEAD DOG Chewie. I have no advice to offer,

Well, you can advise looney toons to do what you did to train your DEAD DOG Chewie. just empathy,

Like HOWE you showed your DEAD DOG Chewie. and my breeder’s oft-proffered comment:

Your breeder HELPED you KILL your DEAD DOG Chewie. "In re-homing a dog, you need to allow 2-4 weeks for his true personality to emerge.

You mean, instead of trainin IT, laura? HOWE long did it take for your DEAD DOG Chewie’s personality to emerge? At that point the potential

If that was TRUE, professional trainers couldn’t TRAIN a dog pryor to that time of EMERGENCE, laura. You’re full of crap. You hurt and killed your own DEAD DOG Chewie for the same same same same reason looney toons is gonna KILL her LIVE dog "New Guy." new owners know what they’re dealing with, and have a chance to make the right decision about whether the dog belongs together with them."

Or to just KILL IT TO BE FAIR, like you did to your DEAD DOG Chewie. It will be tough for you and Morten and Ezra either way,

Cause they’re dog abusing cretins, like you and your family. I would think.

If you THOUGHT, you wouldn’t have punished and intimidated your DEAD DOG Chewie till he attacked your DH. But I wouldn’t assume that the rescue people willfully gave you incorrect information…

RIGHT! They’re as ignorant and abusive as HOWER shelter and rescue dog lovers here abHOWETS. New Guy probably perceived the situation very differently there.

IOW, you’re DOUBLETALKIN again, laura? Thinking of you

You mean, thinking LIKE her, eh laura? Laura and Angel

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Bet this isn’t a new one- do you have a FAQ? I have a recovery Parsons Jack Russell (lucky me…). Best dog I have ever had when out, worst I have ever had when in. He has 2 nefarious habits- 1) He is a kleptomaniac- steals things, corners himself deliberately (to make a defensive stance), then is in ‘fight, flee or freeze" territory. Being a Parson’s freeze isn’t an option, and being cornered, neither is flee- so good luck. I’m getting there with that one though… 2) The other one… He is increasingly ‘marking’ in the kitchen for no apparent reason other than, well, he quite likes to. He has his spot- by the sink, and will mark there whenever possible (for example, when I go to shower in the morning as he knows that the initial mark will dry just enough so that I cannot be certain that he has just done it). If I catch him ‘red handed’ I can go fairly ape (*), then excluded him from house, at which point it will stop for about 3 days- but without direct evidence that I can use that is difficult. I have made huge progress with him with the Dog Listener techniques, but ‘ignoring’ this behavior is absolutely fine by him! So what’s the secret with this one- these things are usually fairly simple when you suss the psychology! Cheers for any help, J. (*- note- out of the 5 dogs I have owned, this one is the only one I have ever had to use excessive physical force with- basically fight back! If I don’t he will immediately start raising his pack profile to attempt to usurp ‘Alpha male’ positioning).

HOWEDY tara o.,

  I agree with Robin.

She sez KILL the dog to be FAIR. The problems with dominance aggression

Ain’t no such critter. ALL AGGRESSION IS FEAR. are numerous.

You HURT and KILL dogs because YOU FEAR THEM. "If You Talk With The Animals, They Will Talk With You And You Will Know Each Other. If You Do Not Talk To Them, You Will Not Know Them, And What You Do Not Know You Will Fear. What One Fears, One Destroys," Chief Dan George, adapted with permission from his FREE copy of The Puppy Wizzzard’s FREE Wits’ End Dog Training Method manual. That’s not to say they can’t all be overcome

Like you done for your DEAD DOG Summer. but it can be a lifelong reinforcement process

That’s BULLSHIT. Stop HURTIN the dog and he’ll be FINE in a couple days, maybe less. and there are definitely dangers to think of.

You HURT and KILL dogs because you are a COWARD and a MENTAL CASE. Dogs who are dominant aggressive

Ain’t no such critter. It’s the human who is DOMINANCE AGGERSSIVE and who jerks and chokes and shocks and locks dogs in boxes and calls THAT, training… when you ain’t MURDERIN THEM. "If You Talk With The Animals, They Will Talk With You And You Will Know Each Other.
Well, if you ain’t FORCING and INTIMIDATING IT, HOWE does IT become CHALLENGED??? ALL BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY MISHANDLING. Do you or hubby feel like that’s something you can handle and

work with? You mean, as successfully as they have done with Ezra? Ezra has bitten many people, including a innocent child. Alot of people don’t and its wise to know your own limitations.

That so? You mean, like The Puppy Wizard’s FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual Students who REPORT 100% TOTAL NON PHYSICAL CONTROL NEARLY INSTANTLY? Dominant aggressive dogs

Ain’t no such thing. Only COWARDS LIARS and MENTAL CASES BLAME THE DOG for being ABUSED. "If You Talk With The Animals, They Will Talk With You And You Will Know Each Other.
Is that HOWE COME you HURT and KILL THEM? (they can add to, or take away from, their bag of triggers) and of course trust is a major issue.

That so? Do tell us abHOWET your pronged spiked pinch choke collar? I would seriously consider returning him to the rescue

They’ll KILL IT, TO BE FAIR. and *not* trying to place him on your own.

You and your Gang Of Lying Dog Abusing Punk Thug Coward MENTAL CASES should never touch a living critter. You don’t know what the extent of his issues are yet so you can’t reliably inform someone else of what to watch out for.

The dog doesn’t like being CHALLENGED CHOKED and INTIMIDATED. How will you be able to know if the person(s) who you may find interested in him are not just up to the task of living with him but are also able both mentally & physically to take on his issues without eventually getting so frustrated or fearful that they hurt him?

RIGHT! SO KILL IT, TO BE FAIR! There’s the law to take into consideration as well.

Only law is KARMA. If you placed him and he hurt someone later on, would you be liable in the eyes of the law?

Well, that settles that. GOT TO KILL THIS DOG TOO. If nothing else, inform the rescue of the problems you’re

having. THEY’LL KILL IT TO BE FAIR. If you decide to try and work with him

looney toons is a DOG ABUSER. then at least they are aware that, should something go wrong or you are having no success, that he’ll be coming back.

The dog is DEAD MEAT if looney toons returns IT to the SHELTER. Living with a dog you’re afraid

Like Summer? You raised her from a puppy. of or cannot trust

Like Summer, on accHOWENT of YOU HURT HER. is a hard thing to do

Yeah. That’s HOWE COME The Puppy Wizard’s FREE WWW Wits’ End Dog Training Method Manual Student’s rehabilitate their dog’s behavior problems NEARLY INSTANTLY. and no one can or should blame you for returning him.

Right. We HURT and KILL dogs we can’t train by jerking and choking and bribing and shocking and spraying aversives in their faces and locking them in boxes. — Tara

HOWEDY Dick,

To the President of the Dalmatian Club of America: Dr. Charles Garvin. On your website you warn people that 12% of all Dalmatians are born deaf and should be euthanised

That’s absurd. 12% FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE for living beings. and that: "Too many children have faced the plastic surgeon’s knife after innocently touching a sleeping, deaf dog…

That’s not a fault of DEAFNESS, that’s a fault of INSECURITY from being MISHANDLED. a dog which in every other way was the most perfect pet

imaginable. Is deafness and MURDERING DOGS perfection, dr.??? DEAF DOGS ARE POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS."

Dalmation fancier? The Puppy Wizard always sez it’s HOWER DOG FANCIERS and S/N Nazis who create the PARANOIA which fosters BSL and SHELTERS KILLIN DOGS to HELP them. you defended the continued breeding and killing of one in eight Dalmatian puppys (thousands in a year)

It’s part of the ETHICKAL DOG BREEDING BUSINESS. for the protection of children and the "betterment of the

INDEEDY. You can’t blame FEAR AGGRESSION on DEAFNESS. FEAR is CAUSED by MISHANDLING.
A dog is a dog. Dog behavior ain’t dependent on GENETICS. MISHANDLING is responsible for ALL behavior problems in both dogs and children.
HOWEDY looney toons, You’re a DOG ABUSER and a MENTAL CASE. Your dog FEARS you cause YOU HURT and INTIMIDATE HIM. The Puppy Wizard. <} ; ~ )

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – HI All. Over the last 2 days it has become clear that we aren’t just dealing with jealousy issues. New Guy is a very dominant dog as he gets to feel more comfortable and at home here he becomes more pushy. He has had several goes at Ezra over the last 2 days, nothing terrible serious yet, as we have managed to get in between so far. I have to admit though that I have a feeling that it will get worse and not better as he takes care to keep an eye on when Ezra gets attention. When she gets attention or thinks about seeking contact with one of us, he will cut her off, growl and make sure that she is pushed aside. I have so far managed to tell him off and push him away but he has had a go at me. Friday evening he had jumped up on the sofa, I told him to get off. He ignored me, I then put my hand on his collar to lead him of the sofa and he barred his teeth and growled at me. I have seen that he isn’t afraid of using his teeth(at the vets) so he got booted off the sofa before he had a chance of biting me. He has also had a go at Morten. It happened yesterday when Morten went to take a piece of wood from him(Ezra had been playing with the piece), he growled at Morten, who then decided not to push it further. So New Guy is very sweet and loving when things go his way. And very dominant and not afraid of using his size and teeth for getting things his way. Morten thinks that it will all get better as he gets a chance of settling in, I am not so sure about that as he is getting more and more pushy every day the more he feels that he belongs here. I am not sure that I am up for the task of working with him. Having one iffy dog is enough for me, I don’t need 2 that I have to keep an eye on. Not only that but fear aggression and dominance is 2 very different things and I don’t know anything about the later. I also have to think about that it is not only Ezra’s and our safety that we have to think about but also other people and dog’s safety. Returning him to the rescue doesn’t seem like the way to go either. He needs to be in a home environment with people who know what they are doing and who are up for the task, as he didn’t show any signs of dominance at the rescue. he is a lovely dog and has great potential I am just not sure that we are the ones for him. It would be so much easier if I knew that we could work with him without putting Ezra at risk and without putting us or others at risk, but I don’t know that. I am sure this is all punishment for me saying that I was sure that he would be a piece of cake and that after dealing with Ezra I was prepared for this. Well I take it all back, I wasn’t prepared for this What is it about me and having these problem dogs coming my way ? One other point. His description at the rescue said: sweet, loving, insecure not guard dog. Well sweet and loving yes. Insecure no. Guard dog ! Let me put it is this way, he is worse than Ezra with reaction to sounds outside, so with the combined effort of the 2 of them our house is like a fort. There is no chance in hell of anyone getting a toe on our property without me knowing it. Lone — Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
